This is hopefully going to turn out to be an account of my time travelling to the Antarctic and the duration of my working stay at the British Antarctic Survey's Rothera Research Station on the Antarctic Peninsula. It will be punctuated by pictures and illustrated by words and perhaps the odd unusual fact. These are my intentions...
Since the 10th of July I have been being "prepared" at BAS Cambridge through a variety of training events, from meteorological observations in Cornwall to mast climbing in Somerset and abseiling and rope work in Derbyshire. Interspersed with periods of real work, you understand.
Now my blog has started properly i will endeavour to keep it updated as an informative and possibly even entertaining document - with lots of pictures because they are free to take and are worth a thousand times as much as words and and don't need to be shaped into sentences. OK, that's the introduction done... i hope this diary will be of interest to anyone who knows me or is generally an Antarctic enthusiast! The photos will become less green and will first go blue and then white...
